Building Solar Panels For Emergency Solar Backup Power
If you are looking at building solar panels, it is probably because you are either a DIY'er (Do-It-Yourself'er) or the cost of solar panels is too high for you to be able to purchase a ready made system.
The MOST important part is that you have SOME sort of alternative energy you can tap into when everything goes kaput!
The picture above is of an emergency solar panel system set up to run a water pump. You can see the panels in the background there.
My friend, Jeff, is getting his garden set up this year, which is actually what we were looking at in the picture, but the panels are in the background... he is able to get water, no matter how long of a power outage we have, and believe me, when you have been out of good cold drinking water for a day or two, you get a whole new appreciation for it!
Cost of Solar Panels
For most folks, it is the cost of solar systems that has them looking at building solar panels of their own....
If you have looked at buying solar panels at all, you know that to purchase one sufficient to run a 300 watt home, which is what a normal house is considered to use, will cost around ten grand.
I have not built one myself but I have friends that have messed around with solar stuff.
There are several things that you will want to have on hand to help you with building a solar panel.
