Emergency Essentials to Survival
Many of the emergency essentials for survival are not that difficult to prepare for. This is especially true if you are living in a rural area, where firewood and water are more easily accessed.
Here in the NW where I live, we have easy access to many of the necessities of survival such as water, wood for cooking and heat, wildlife for food, and the safety that comes from living away from city life.
For those living in urban or inner city areas, it may be a bit harder to prepare for an all out survival plan, however it is still possible to do so with some basic planning.
WOOD and WATER are some of the biggest essentials to survival in my opinion. And here is why....
With a simple wood stove, you can do ALL of the following:
- stay warm
- heat water (for bathing and doing laundry)
- cook food
- boil and sanitize your drinking water
- bake bread and casseroles
- dry meats to preserve them
- canning foods (for preservation)
Water / Creek / Well or Pump
If you are near a creek you can do the following with any running creek water:
- keep your food cold... place food in glass jars and float in creek)
- wash your clothes
- bathe
- have access to drinking water
Yes, wood and water are a HUGE asset if you have it close by!
It is a GREAT idea to have some sort of alternative energy set up, such as a windmill or solar panels, to generate electricity,as it will help to make all this a little easier, but it is absolutely possible to do without power, if you have the right emergency essentials in place, such as a water source and wood supply for your stove.
Although there are some other basic essentials that we talk about here ==>> basic survival essentials <<== , if you don't have access to a good wood and water source, all the rest will be much harder to plan for.
Probably the best plan ... if you are stuck, smack dab, in the middle of a city, is to carry a ready to go bug out bag full of emergency essentials in the trunk of your car at all times.
