Survival Outdoor Gear That will LAST!

Free Shipping on MSR stoves - Altrec Outdoors

When looking at survival outdoor gear, you will definitely want to be looking at quality.

It would very frustrating to have all your survival packing done and ready for that moment when you are needing to grab it at the drop of a hat and run - only to discover within a few hours that your backpack is coming apart, or your shoes are not going to last more than a few days....

Or that you only packed enough food for less than half the journey... or perhaps you didn't even tuck in a good survival knife....which is in reality something that too many folks will find out if they are packing cheap survival knives..

Nope, it would not be cool....

You are planning for survival here - and you do not have time nor the ability to start over, once a crisis hits...

In as far as a good backpack, you will want to go with a high quality pack but not one that weighs a ton....the same with all the survival outdoor gear that will be going INTO the pack.

You will want quality without all the weight of quality.

When my hubby is looking for a new tent to add to one of our backpacks, he will be looking for the lightest tent with the most quality.

The Gear you need to Travel - Altrec Outdoors

You may think it won't matter whether some item weighs 28 ounces or 34 ounces, but once you have everything packed into that seemingly easy to carry pack and are halfway up some mountain, you will be glad for every ounce you left behind!

The same goes for sleeping bags.

We have some information on the best survival food for backpacking elsewhere on our site - but my suggestion would be to go with as much freeze-dried foods as you can as they are not only lighter but also easy to prepare in an emergency.

In fact, just visit our page on survival kits to get help with some basic items that need to be added to your readiness pack....

Bottom line is that you will want to look for quality in all survival outdoor gear.
