Symptoms of Swine Flu Similar to '76 Swine Flu Scare??
Are the symptoms of swine flu similar to the ones in the swine flu 1976 scare? (If you study the 1976 swine flu, you will find some interesting information. What ARE the symptoms of the H1N1 virus and how does one know whether or not to be running to the doctor??
These are several questions that many are asking and not without reason. With all the ta-do about the possible swine flu outbreak, there is reason to be concerned, especially if you are a parent with kids in the ages of 5 - 28, as those are the ages most of the confirmed cases of swine flu have been found in. However the CDC confirms that there has not been that much of an outbreak, not what they expected, which pretty much goes along with what happened in 1976. In 1976 there were millions of dollars spent on research and in finding a serum that was thought to be the answer to the swine flu epidemic.
Only ONE person died in the 1976 swine flu scare BUT there were several confirmed DEATHS related to the swine flu SHOT
I am not quick to run to the doctor myself with my kids and I have five =) but here are some symptoms that require immediate attention especially if you have reason to believe it may be something other than an ordinary flu. In children, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:
Fast breathing or trouble breathing
Bluish or gray skin color
Not drinking enough fluids
Severe or persistent vomiting
Not waking up or not interacting
Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
In adults, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
Sudden dizziness
Confusion
Severe or persistent vomiting
Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
Take Precautions!
As always, taking precautions every day to avoid getting sick, like washing your hands whenever you enter/leave a public place, etc... is just common ordinary sense!
What is YOUR opinion on all the talk about emergency preparedness and survival? Got any advice for everyone out there??Tell us here!..This is brand spanking new so don't be afraid to be the first to add something!
