Isn’t it crazy how we take so many things for granted?
Most of us are totally oblivious of anything like a food shortage and the emergency survival situation that is looming on the horizon.
We get up in the morning, open the faucet and water comes rushing out.
We get a pot of coffee going, at the flip of a switch,…….
We grab a quick shower with nice bright lights, of course,
Plug in the shaver or hair dryer and get ready for our day….
Pop a bagel into the toaster, grab a cold drink and some lunch from the fridge and head off to work….
BUT just let some emergency situation arise…

Whether it be a natural emergency like flooding, fires, hurricanes or a bomb gets dropped somewhere in the city….Anything…. And our life, as we know it, drastically changes, especially if the power goes out!
Life quickly takes on a whole new meaning and survival mode kicks in when the switches don’t work, the faucet only spits and sputters, and all the food is gone bad in the fridge because there is no longer any power to keep it cold.
The first day or so of any meltdown, most folks will rush to the grocery store to stock up on emergency food items, but it takes only a few hours in most places to empty the store shelves, leaving us no other choice but to survive on whatever food storage we have at home.
We have a page on food survival kits here…if you have not YET started stockpiling some sort of food supply.
It’s Time to Prepare
Many families have been quietly preparing for emergency survival , and MANY of them are set up so they will not have to leave their homes for months, if need be, as they will be well prepared , not only for the food shortage, but also in other ways.
Like alternative power, for instance…
Emergency or alternative source for electricity for many will be in the form of a small emergency electric generator or solar and wind power.
Actually there are literally thousands of Americans turning to wind generators and solar panels as back-up sources of electricity and in some cases it’s their ONLY source of energy, even now.
Starting a Garden is Wisdom
Especially if it’s summertime.
The folks that are into survival gardening, will either have a garden started or will be prepared to start one in the event of a crisis.
It is a beautiful thing to have the shelves in the basement lined with canned goods. And not only will we be prepared for ANY coming food shortage, we can be saving money on our grocery bills, … cause when we start looking ahead, we automatically stock up on items that will save us money in the long run.
Click here for our page on Food Preparation, to get some tips and ideas on how to prepare foods when a crisis hits.
Regardless what our situation is, it is foolish NOT to prepare for, or anticipate a coming food shortage that many experts are saying will happen eventually, and that could actually happen much sooner than we want to believe.
