The Cost of Solar Panels is Higher When You Buy Them
But SO MUCH less hassle than building them on your own.
The picture here is one of our most popular Generator systems that utilizes the suns powers.
There are a variety of things to consider when looking at the cost of building solar panels.
- The size of your home.
- Whether or not you want commercially installed panels.
- How many watts you need, etc, etc,
Commercial Solar Units
For a commercially installed system, you are looking at up to $50,000 to install enough solar panels and to buy everything on the entire system but once it is installed you will be able to run your entire home with the power of the sun.
It will take a number of years to recoup your investment but you will have a system that should last for years with a commercial unit.
And you can always sell your excess electricity back to the power company.

What Most People are Looking for though, are Smaller Units…

Solar energy kits that are designed as an alternative power backup system, for emergency preparedness, consisting of a solar panel, small generator, and the wiring
needed to build your own solar unit…. will cost you anywhere from about $1500 to several thousand, depending on the size you get.
These smaller units will run the necessities needed for survival needs, and in some cases, as we have explained on our Portable Solar Power Generator page here, there are units for less than 5 grand that will power a lot of the needs in your home.
In fact, I think it is safe to say that there is probably a unit out there to fit your budget, providing it will do everything you need it to do.
OR…You Can Simply Build Your Own Solar System…
For under fifty bucks you can pick up a simple DIY Solar Guide ( in fact, click here ==>> Top DIY Generator Guides to see a quick review on a few of the top guides) that will help you build your own panels from scratch.
There are a variety of resources available online to help you get started in building your own panels and in deciding which is the best route for you to go.
We strongly encourage getting a guide that has videos to help you as it just makes it so much easier when you can actually SEE someone working on it.
With about an expense of $200 or so you can pick up most of the supplies at your local hardware or on Ebay, and start building a system according to what YOU need and want.
The beauty of building your own is that you can always add to it as you need more power.
Many have been able to produce enough power over time to completely off the grid and one friend of ours actually feeds his power BACK into the line, getting a utility CREDIT every month instead of a utility bill!
I actually think if you are a DIY type of person, you will be surprised how easy these are to build and in fact, there are guys that have started building solar panels for others as a part time job.
So although the cost of solar panels keeps a lot of folks from switching to solar energy, many others are finding their own means to take advantage of the sun and wind power that is so readily available to all of us!
